Thread: Asbestos concern?

    I have a question: I noticed in the Service Manual that there are "Asbestos" washers. I also know that our old stoves are heavily insulated with "rock wool" (whatever that is.) Do we have a concern with our old stoves having asbestos in the insulation? I hope not, because I love my old stove. Replacing all the insulation would be a bear. Someone, please write and tell me that I'm worried for nothing. Thanks.

    The small asbestos washers pose no real threat to health. The rockwool is similar to fiberglas, and has no asbestos in it.

    You are perfectly safe from asbestos poisoning using your CHAMBERS range!
